Renewing your TIE: documents and fee

Approval comes first

• A renewed TIE documents an approved renewal of the underlying permission. EasyPap prepares the card application; it does not apply to renew your immigration permission.

Your deadline

• Where the TIE follows a granted residence authorization, the general card rule is one month from grant or when the authorization becomes effective. Use the approval notification for the card stage; a work permission conditional on Social Security registration has a different trigger.

Documents

• For a renewed TIE, bring your valid passport or travel document.

• After the card expires and the permission is renewed, return the previous TIE to the police unit. Keep it available for the renewed-card procedure.

• For a renewal or duplicate with a change of address, bring an updated padrón certificate or slip issued less than three months ago.

• Bring one recent passport-size colour photo with a white background.

The fee

• For a card documenting renewal of temporary residence or extension of stay, the official 790-012 option is the renewal/extension TIE category. The verified amount is €19.30. This is the card fee, separate from any residence-permission fee.

• Pay the fee before your appointment. Paying it is a requirement for the card to be issued.

Padrón and travel

• Non-EU nationals without long-term residence must renew their padrón registration every two years.

• A return authorisation (autorización de regreso) lets you leave Spain and come back. It is mainly for people whose permission is being renewed or extended, or whose valid TIE was lost or stolen and who have applied for a duplicate.
